Prosthetic Replacements

Prosthetics is the replacement of a missing portion of an anatomic structure with an artificial replacement. You likely have heard of someone with an artificial leg, arm, or even an artificial eye.

Dentistry’s replacement of missing parts in the mouth, jaws, and teeth, are called dental prosthetic replacements.

These can be: complete dentures; removable partial dentures; fixed bridges; crowns or even veneers. They are all prosthetic dental replacements.

Dr. LuBovich also makes devices to replace a portion of an upper or lower jaw lost with an accident or cancer.

Dr. LuBovich also makes devices that enable patients to regain their ability to speak well after a stroke. Many times, a stroke victim will have a nasal sound, and lose the ability to close the throat preventing air, during speech, from coming out the nose.

A Prosthodontist is a specialist in making missing parts for teeth, jaws, and jawbones. Some prosthodontists limit themselves to only a few areas of treatment, such as complete dentures.
